You can upload your lab, radiology and pathology reports to MoraHealth as PDFs; pathology reports can also be added as photos. The details are read automatically and shown to you before saving, so you can correct them. This post explains what is read for each type of report, the file limits, and what to keep in mind.

In short: which report, which file?#

Report typeAccepted fileLargest file
Lab resultsPDF5 MB
Radiology (MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray)PDF5 MB
PathologyPDF or photo (JPEG, PNG)PDF 5 MB, photo 10 MB

There is no page limit. You can select several files at once or drag and drop them.

Lab reports#

Upload the lab report PDF you got from a hospital, a laboratory or a patient portal. The following is read automatically:

  • the facility and date of the test
  • each test's name and the panel it belongs to (a complete blood count, for example)
  • the result, unit and reference range
  • whether the result is outside the reference range

When you upload several PDFs at once, each one is offered to you as a separate record to approve; reports whose date could not be read are shown on a separate tab, where you enter the date.

Once your lab results are saved, you can see each test's history on a chart; see Tracking your lab results over time.

Radiology reports#

Upload the report PDF of an MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray or other scan. The following is recorded:

  • the facility and clinic
  • the report date
  • the full text of the report

The images themselves (DICOM files, films) are not uploaded; MoraHealth keeps the report the radiologist wrote.

Pathology reports#

Add a pathology report as a PDF, or take a photo of the paper report. The following is read:

  • the facility, report number and process number
  • where the sample was taken from, the tissue type and the biopsy type
  • the slide information
  • the examination findings and the diagnosis text
  • the report date

Photos are sent as they are; they are not shrunk or altered. For a readable result, use a photo where the whole report is in frame, flat and in good light.

How uploading works#

  1. Choose your file on the right page (Lab Results, Radiology or Pathology).
  2. If the file needs to be processed by AI to be read, you are asked for your approval first.
  3. What was read is shown on an approval screen. You can correct a field that was read wrong, add or delete rows, and skip a record you don't want.
  4. When you approve, the record is created.

When is a file read by AI?#

  • Lab and radiology: the file is first processed by our own reader. Only if that fails is it read by AI.
  • Pathology: always read by AI.

Either way, you are asked for your approval before the transfer; if you do not approve, the file is not sent. Summarizing a report is a separate step that happens only when you ask for it; see What does MoraHealth's AI summary analyze, and what not?

Your file is not stored#

The PDF or photo you upload is not stored permanently on the server. The file is processed only to read the details; what is saved is the information you approved. We recommend keeping the original report in your own archive.

Limits and things to keep in mind#

  • Monthly allowance: on the free plan you can upload 5 reports a month; for the first 30 days the limit is 10. Lab, radiology and pathology share the same allowance. See Is MoraHealth free?
  • Only files that are read count: a file that could not be read does not use your allowance.
  • The same file is not uploaded twice: if you choose a file you already uploaded to the same profile, you are told.
  • Manual entry is unlimited: if you don't have the report as a PDF, or your allowance is used up, enter the same details yourself with Add Record Manually. Manual records do not count against the limit and are not sent to AI.
  • The right profile: upload a report while the profile of the person it belongs to is selected. Adding profiles for family members is covered in Profiles and sharing.
